Accessible, prefab ADUs for aging in place

The first home is my father's.
The next one could be for your family.

A letter from our CEO

Dear friend,

Artha is a Sanskrit word for the means to live well. It also holds my father's name, Art.

He is a retired Air Force colonel, a wheelchair using veteran, an astrophysicist who spent his career chasing rockets and the far edge of what this country could build. In 2027 he is moving in with us. We are building him a home of his own, just steps from our front door. Wheelchair ready. Made so he can grow older with sunlight, privacy, and family within earshot.

Learn more about Art

His home is the reason Artha Dwellings exists, and it is the first one we are building: the prototype for a line of prefab ADUs other families can order and drop on the footprint of a standard, 2-car garage on a residential lot.

We are building my father's home in the open. Every design choice, every trade, every lesson learned along the way. Follow along, and meet the design and build partners bringing the prototype to life, on Instagram and LinkedIn.

There is more I am not ready to announce yet. What I can tell you is that this one is personal.

With gratitude,

Jen

CEO, Artha Dwellings

Our mission

A third way for families.

Most families facing age or disability are handed two poor options. Move someone they love into a facility, or take on a custom retrofit that costs a fortune and drags on for years. We are making a third way. Artha designs accessible ADUs as a repeatable product, not a one-off, so more families can keep a loved one close without surrendering them to a room down an institutional hall.

Our vision

Home, for as long as it is home.

A world where growing older, or living with a disability, does not mean leaving home. Where accessible is the standard, not the expensive upgrade. Where the people who served us get to spend their years with dignity, near the people who love them.

Get involved

Help shape the line before it ships.

We are still talking with families, so what you tell us changes the design. Pick the one that fits.

Customer interviews

Tell us what your family needs.

For wheelchair users, caregivers, and anyone planning ahead. Start with a short survey and we will take it from there.
